Teaching Strategies that Work

Are you familiar with Robert Marzano? He compiled data from numerous research studies and found there were nine categories that made the biggest difference in student learning. Many if not all of these teaching strategies you will be familiar with and you probably use them on a regular basis. The have been organized into nine categories:
1. Setting Objectives and Providing Feedback
2. Reinforcing Effort and Providing Recognition
3. Cooperative Learning
4. Cues, Questions, and Advance Organizers
5. Nonlinguistic Representations
6. Summarizing and Note Taking
7. Assigning Homework and Providing Practice
8. Identifying Similarities and Differences
9. Generating and Testing Hypotheses

Which do you use the most?
